Increased funding for Tyne Valley Oyster Festival announced
Two highlights of this year's festival include the "Rock the Boat" concert and an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most oysters shucked in one hour by 10 oyster shuckers.

Increased investments in the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival have allowed the festival to expand and attract a wider audience as it celebrates its 50th year.

Hot, dry and windy conditions create concerns
Burning Permits are required for any outdoor fire from March 15 to December 1 each year and burning can only occur when the Fire Weather Index (FWI) is Low and wind speeds are 10km/hr or less.

Islanders and visitors are being advised that the hot, dry and windy weather means that burning permits are not valid. The public are also being urged to use caution with any and all outdoor fires.
