Event: PEIWI Founder's Day

A Founder’s Week Celebration is traditionally held every February, and marks the beginning of Women's Institute,while celebrating the founder, Mrs. Adelaide Hoodless.
Each year PEIWI invites all to an Open House reception in the afternoon, while WI members are treated to a guest speaker and morning workshops.

Founder’s Week Celebration - February 17 - 23, 2013 - Details are below:

  • Effective Meetings - Branch and District Areas (9:00 a.m. - noon) - Farm Centre (Storm date Feb. 21). Lunch Provided
    Topics include:
    • How to effectively run a meeting at Branch and District Area levels.
    • Marketing A Non-Profit Organization - John Barrett Director of Sales, Marketing & Development,
    • Veseys Seeds Ltd (and Rotary Club member of Charlottetown Royalty).

    These sessions are open to branch and district area executive members or a Branch representative. Admission is free and lunch is provided. Please register with the WI Office staff before Feb. 15, 2013.

  • Founder’s Day Reception and Open House
    (1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m.) - Farm Centre (Storm date Feb. 21).
    Join in celebrating 100 years of PEIWI by meeting old and new friends and viewing commemorative displays. From 1:30 to 2 pm we will have a demonstration of how to negotiate the new PEIWI website. Light refreshments will be served.
  • Founder’s Month Contest
    This can be a strictly WI branch or a community involved event. Any event that promotes Founder’s Day qualifies, as long as it is held in February. Prizes of $50, $30, and $20 will be awarded at the Annual Convention in May. Entries are to be submitted in a folder with a maximum of 6 pages - summarizing the purpose of the event and the event itself (maximum 250 words). These 6 pages are to include 2 - 6 photos. Entries will be judged according to the creativity of the event & presentations in the folder.

We encourage all branches to do something special to commemorate 2013 being the Centennial year for PEIWI. The deadline to submit your entry to the WI Office is March 28, 2013.
