Farm animal welfare is an increasingly important issue of concern for both the public and animal agriculture.

The course will be put on by the PEI Cattle Producers and will cover the following topics:

• Natural cattle behaviour
• Low stress handling techniques
• Economic and welfare benefits of humane handling
• Pre-conditioning beef calves in an integrated industry
• Pain management for routine procedures
• Humane transportation
• Pre-slaughter stress management
• New Codes of Practice

There is no cost to attend for producers.

Producers who attend will receive a Certificate of Completion. This workshop will only be offered once annually and anyone wanting to participate in future Island branding will need to complete this course.
