Description:

  • larvae - 20mm fully grown
  • feed in colonies
  • envelope foliage in silken web
  • adult - moth’s forewings have black spots on a white background
  • wingspread 24mm

What it attacks:

  • Euonymus trees including burning bush

Damage:

  • defoliation

Prevention/Control:

  • dormant oil
  • some forms of B.t.
  • pheromone trap (attracts insect & traps it in a sticky substance, insect dies in trap)
  • safers soap
