Adaptation and Development of Agricultural Production Technology (ADAPT) Council
The Prince Edward Island ADAPT Council is a not for profit organization made up of members representing the agriculture and agri-food industry on Prince Edward Island. ADAPT’s mission is to is to assist the agriculture and agri-food industry adapt to new challenges and opportunities and support innovative ways of doing business. As a result of an agreement between Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and the Prince Edward Island ADAPT Council, the Council administers P.E.I.’s portion of the Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-food (ACAAF) Fund.
ACAAF Program Goals:
The ACAAF program is intended to advance Canadian agriculture and agri-food by:
- Expanding the sector’s capacity to respond to current and emerging issues,
- Positioning the sector to capture market opportunities,
- Actively and continuously engaging the sector to contribute to future agriculture and agri-food policy directions,
- Integrating sector-led projects tested and piloted under ACAAF into future federal, provincial, or territorial government or industry initiatives.

Agriculture Research and Innovation
The Agriculture Research and Innovation Program is designed to provide assistance for farm level research, innovation and adoption projects that will yield positive economic benefits within the Prince Edward Island agricultural industry.
This initiative is comprised of four sub-programs
- Applied Research Subprogram
- Innovative Technologies Subprogram
- Industry Research Coordination Subprogram
- Technology and Science Adoption Subprogram
