Copying of Archival Materials

The Public Archives and Records Office provides access to and copies of records in its holdings for research purposes, and in some cases for use in publications, media, and exhibitions.  All uses other than research or private study require written permission from the Public Archives and Records Office. Any questions regarding copyright are also the responsibility of the user.

 

Reproduction of Archives’ material is subject to Canadian copyright law, Freedom of Information/Protection of Privacy legislation and donor agreements.  Some items or collections may be restricted from copying for these reasons or because of the fragile condition or size of the original.

 

Due to the nature of our holdings, no public photocopying facilities are available.

 

If you are ordering copies by mail or telephone please supply as comprehensive and accurate information as possible including the name/title and/or type of the document, date, accession number (if applicable), name of individual(s) involved, type of event, and any relevant volume, page and column numbers. Forms are available if you are visiting in person.
