Every day, foster families across Prince Edward Island open their homes and their hearts to children who need safe and loving homes. At any given time, there are about 170 children in foster care receiving a safe and nurturing home environment where they feel loved and supported.

Foster families play an important role in our communities by providing care on a short or long-term basis for children up to age 18.

How do I know if foster parenting may be right for me?

You may have been thinking for a long time about welcoming a child into your home through foster care. Our frequently asked questions and answers will help you decide if foster parenting is the best choice for you now.

Upcoming Foster Parent Information sessions

Plan to attend a one hour information session to learn more about becoming a foster parent. Sessions will be held in Charlottetown and Summerside.

Charlottetown: Meetings are held at the Sherwood Business Centre, 161 St. Peters Road at 7 p.m. Please use St. Peters Road entrance beside Razzys Roadhouse.
Upcoming Charlottetown Dates: June 24th and July 27th (Note, these meetings will be held at 9 a.m.) and August 3rd at 7 p.m.
Child and Family Services office, Second Floor, National Bank Building, 290 Water St., Summerside.

Upcoming Summerside Dates: June 23rd and August 17th, 2016. The June meeting will be held at 5:15 p.m. and the August 17th meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m.

Montague: Montague Access PEI Office Boardroom, 41 Wood Islands Road, Montague.

Upcoming Montague Date: Wednesday July 13 at 5 pm.
