Meet the Commissioner
I would like to personally welcome you to the Child and Youth Services Commissioner’s website. This site has information and resources to help you better understand my role as Child and Youth Services Commissioner.
There are more than 33, 000 children and youth on Prince Edward Island. Their needs are complex and ever-changing. That means the programs and services intended for them have to be ready, and able, to respond to new challenges.
Fortunately, Prince Edward Island already on the right track in many ways. It offers a broad spectrum of programs and services for our young people. We must continue to expand our successful practices, while also exploring promising new initiatives.
As Commissioner, my goal is to lead, and encourage, collaboration on child and youth issues. To do this, I will work closely with the Departments of Health and Wellness, Education and Early Childhood Development, Justice and Public Safety and Community Services, Seniors and Labour.
We have a great opportunity to develop a model that will serve our children, youth and families in the most effective and efficient manner possible.
Listening to our children and young people, to better understand how they experience life, will be essential. We must involve them, along with their families, in designing and choosing the right services to meet their needs.
I would encourage you to use the on-line feedback tool to share your opinions and suggestions about services for our children and youth. I also welcome sit-down meetings if you would like to share your feedback in that way.
Jeff Clow
