The Child and Youth Services Commissioner will consult with various stakeholders from across the province. The goal is to collect input on ways children, youth, families and staff think access to programs and services might be improved. He will seek written submissions from his website or by regular mail. Specific groups or individuals may also request a meeting with the Commissioner. He will be travelling the province to see, firsthand, the programs in place for children and youth. This will also give an opportunity for stakeholders to provide feedback.

The models of services currently delivered to children and youth will be reviewed. This will involve meeting with departments and service providers to gain a better understanding of the services provided within each department. A review of other models, both provincially and nationally, that have been successful, and which are anchored in best practices and research, will also be involved in this process.

Information, including the feedback and review of best practices, gathered during the stakeholder input and review process will be used to compile strengths, weakness and opportunities within the systems.

The recommendations will provide guidance and direction in identifying, and capitalizing on, already existing best practices. They will also explore new initiatives that will promote interdepartmental collaboration, integration and program implementation.
