| History: | Located in the south shore of the island, on Hillsborough Bay. In 1765, Samuel Holland named the location Charlotte Town for Charlotte Sophia (1744 to 1818) consort of George III. The city was incorporated in 1855. Charlottetown Royalty was planned by Samuel Holland as one of the 70 territorial divisions of PEI. The location has a post office since 1802. Established as a civic address community in 2000. |
