Child Protection Act Review

As defined in the regulations of Child Protection Act (2003), the Minister of Social Services and Seniors is legally required to appoint an advisory committee to review the act every three years.
The advisory committee will host private and public consultations and then provide a report to the Minister. The report will provide the Minister with information on the operation and administration of the Child Protection Act and whether its principles and purposes are being achieved.

| This phone number will connect you to child protection services for abused children. After-hours calls about child abuse are screened and, if necessary, referred to social workers on-call across Prince Edward Island. |
The main purpose of the Child Protection Act is to protect children from harm because of abuse and neglect as well as to protect the best interests of children.
Through public consultations, individuals, families, youth and community groups are asked to provide input on how the Child Protection Act is working or not working.
The discussion document includes background and the questions that will be discussed during private and public consultations.
