 Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Begin

Diamond Jubilee PEI

All provinces and territories are flying the Queen's Canada Flag on February 6 in honour of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty's accession to the throne. In PEI, the Queen's Canada Flag was raised at Province House by Lieutenant Governor H. Frank Lewis, Speaker Carolyn Bertram and Deputy Premier George Webster.

Join the Prince Edward Island celebrations to commemorate Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years of service to Canada and the Commonwealth in 2012.  Diamond Jubilee celebrations will be taking place across Prince Edward Island in 2012.  All Islanders are encouraged to take part.

The Queen came to the throne on February 6, 1952 and her coronation took place on June 2, 1953.

Message from Hon. Robert Ghiz, Premier of Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island is a historically rich province and Islanders understand the important role Queen Elizabeth plays as our Head of State.  The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is a time for our province and all Canadians to celebrate the contributions of Queen Elizabeth to our nation and to reflect on the growth of our country during her reign.
