PEI Marketing Council
Supervises the creation and operation of producer boards, commissions and groups that regulate and control the production, sale, processing, marketing, transportation and pricing of natural products. Council recommends the establishment, amendment, or revocation of regulations to Executive Council, provides advice to commodity boards, conducts commodity board elections and plebiscites, determines fluid milk product prices, advises the Minister and acts as liaison with national and other provincial agencies.
The Council is responsible for the general supervision of commodity boards, marketing commissions and commodity groups, and provides legislative and regulatory advice.
The Council shall consist of not less than three persons and not more than eight persons appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
Work & Experience Requirements
A background in agriculture, fisheries or aquaculture, an understanding of the food marketplace, or marketing board experience, would be definite assets.
The ability to make sound decisions based on information provided. Mediation and regulatory skills would be useful.
Statutory Nomination Requirements
The Lieutenant Governor in Council shall appoint all members.
Traditional Nomination Requirements
Chair - $200/diem and Members - $142/diem.
Anticipated Time Commitments
The members of the board may be appointed to hold office for a term of three years and may be re-appointed.
