The Acadian and Francophone Affairs Secretariat was established on April 1st, 1989. The Secretariat advises the Provincial Government in the planning and implementation of various measures in order to increase its capacity to offer French services to the Acadian and Francophone community. The Secretariat also supports Government departments and agencies on numerous issues relating to Francophone Affairs at the intergovernmental, national and international levels. The Secretariat is also responsible for government's Translation Services.

Le Secrétariat des affaires acadiennes et francophones a été établie le 1 avril 1989. Le Secrétariat conseille le gouvernement provincial dans la planification et la mise en oeuvre de diverses mesures afin d'augmenter sa capacité à offrir des services en français à la communauté acadienne et francophone. Le Secrétariat appui également les ministères et agences gouvernementales sur différents dossiers en lien avec les Affaires francophones aux niveaux intergouvernemental, national et international. Le Secrétariat est également responsable du Service de traduction du gouvernement.
