We have a change of plans for our Halloween Dance this week. Instead of having it on Thursday evening, we are going to have a costume dance this afternoon. Students are very excited about this. We are looking forward to having all students attend. Students will have the option of wearing their costumes all day or changing in to one at noon. No masks or toy weapons please. Thanks!

Miscellaneous:

  • Don’t forget to bring in old cell phones to your home room teacher. We need to beat QC and Stonepark in the cell phone challenge. Birchwood has won the last 4 years.
  • Fantastic work on all the pumpkins. Students will be able to vote today at lunch and decide what pumpkins they like best!

  • The girls volleyball team is traveling to Stonepark for their playoff match today after school. Good luck girls!! Taxis are leaving at 3:00!

  • There will be Math Help for grades 7,8,9 Today after school in room 154-Ms.Obrien’s room from 2:50-3:45.
  • Tomorrow is our first swim day at CARI.  If Ms.MacPherson gave you a permission form for this, it must be returned before tomorrow.
  • Pumpkin carving will begin today during periods 9 & 10 in the Home Ec. room. Please select 2-3 students from your homeroom to participate.
  • Dance Club will meet for a brief meeting in the gym at break today. All girls must attend!!

  • Hockey Academy begins today. Students will meet by the gym doors following period 8.
  • A reminder to students that there is an open gym tonight from 6:00-7:15 for those who want to come and work on their basketball skills and play some basketball!

Reminder: PEITF Convention this Thursday & Friday. No school.

Sports:

  • Intramurals at lunch today in the gym.
  • Boys Basketball tonight 6pm-7:15pm.
  • Boys Soccer: We had a very enjoyable season. Mr.Murphy would like to thank all of the players for their hardwork and dedication. To all of the grade 9’s thank you very much for being a Soccer Cobra. Please return any jerseys to Mr.Murphy or Mr.MacVicar.
  • The girls volleyball team lost 3 games to Stonepark yesterday, but had some great performances. They play at QC today. Also girls are reminded to go to the Home Ec lab at lunch.

Music:

  • Grade 7 band at 12 noon today.

Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 – Day 4

Sports:

  • Intramurals:  Volleyball & soccer.
  •  Congratulations to the girls volleyball team as they played an amazing match against East Wiltshire yesterday. They lost 16-14 in the fifth set. Can the girls meet for a short meeting at break in Mrs. MacAdams room today.
  • The girls soccer team wrapped up their season yesterday. They battled hard all season and showed determination and a lot of potential for the next few years.
  • Boys basketball pre-season training will begin next Wednesday evening.
  • All hockey Academy applications are due on Monday morning, Oct. 19.
  • Good luck to the following cross-country runners as they represent Birchwood in the Provincial Cross-Country meet in Mill River this weekend:
    • Anamika Suba, Maggie Jamieson, Devon Costello, Miara Weeks, Emma Johnston, Keegan Bulger, Matt Doyle, Isaka Mbonimana, Noah Duckworth, Deepa Darjee, Vadim Boshnyak.
