Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 – Day 6

Sports:

  • Intramurals: Open Gym
  • Congratulations to Keeghan Bulger, Fararh Ibrahim Maalim, Seth Doyle, Andrew Carmichael, Jacob MacNeil, and Amina Niyubushbozi who all took part in the provincial Cross-Country championships this past weekend.
  • Girls basketball has an open gym today after school at 3:00.
  • Boys basketball tryouts will be taking place Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 3:00- 4:15.
  • All students who are part of the Birchwood Hockey Academy are asked to meet today at noon in Mr. Brioux’s room at 12:10.

Music:

  • Grade 8/9 band meets tomorrow morning at 7:45 am. All students must attend.
  • The band room is open for all band students at lunch who wish to get extra help with playing or reading music.
  • Grade 7 band meets Wednesday at noon.

Miscellaneous: 

  • Halloween is on today, Students & Staff are encouraged to dress up.
  • The Zen Zone is open today.

Cafeteria:

  • Monday: Spaghetti & meat sauce with Caesar salad & garlic stick.
  • Tuesday: Soft taco with rice and corn.
  • Wednesday: Sweet & Sour meat balls with rice.
  • Thursday: Chicken burger with mashed potato & veg.
  • Friday: Baked fish with mashed potato & Veg.

CG Family Public Meeting for Schools Review – Nov. 3, 7:00

Public Meetings

A first round of public meetings for our family of schools was held earlier in October to present data to the public.

A second set of public meetings will give the public an opportunity to provide input on options for change. This will take place at Colonel Gray High School, Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m.

How to Participate

The format of the meeting will be:

  • 7:00 – 9:00 pm – Individuals or groups may make presentations up to 10 minutes in length. (Birchwood has requested a slot to make a short presentation and will also provide a written submission at this time.)
  • 9:00 – 10:00 pm – During the third hour, the moderator will invite people in attendance who wish to comment on the ideas presented to come forward to the microphone and provide feedback.

Public Input on Schools Review

A third set of meetings will be held once the recommendations are developed, in accordance with the School Change Policy which requires 60 days of public input on the recommendations.

Stay tuned for the next Parent Council Meeting date, which will follow this second public meeting on Nov. 3rd.

  • Reminder to please hand in your Birchwood Hockey Academy registration sheets to Mr. Brioux by Monday, Oct. 31.

Music:

  • All students in Grade 9 band who wish to go to Honors band must pass in the forms by today.
  • Grade 7 band meets at noon today.

Miscellaneous: 

  • Students interested in participating in the remembrance day photograph today, are reminded to meet in the cafeteria at 2:45. Listen for an announcement at lunch regarding cancellation on account of weather will be made.
  • Halloween is on Monday, Students & Staff are encouraged to dress up.
  • Cobra smoothies will be on sale today at break on the Grade 9 floor for $2.
  • The Zen Zone is open today.

  • Wednesday: Chicken bowl with corn, mashed potato & gravy.

  • Friday: PEITF Convention, no school.

Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 – Day 4

Sports:

  • Good luck to our girls volleyball team as they travel to Stonepark today after school.
  • Boys & girls basketball tryouts will be taking place soon. Stayed tuned.
