Our Family Literacy Day was a great success. So many of our families came out to enjoy the range of activities that were available. There were over 60 Book Fair prizes given out, including two family prizes of $25.00. These prizes were possible due to a generous grant from the Journal Pioneer Literacy Fund. It was our goal to put as many books in the hands of our students as possible and we did a super job of doing that.
Our Gator and Geronimo greeted everyone as they arrived. The Book Fair was a very busy spot for the morning. The Grade 5 Puppet Show provided great entertainment and the Orffestration of “The Kopak Tree’ was a wonderful way to end our celebration of literacy. Spotlight Theatre brought many of our favourite book characters such as Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother, Peter Pan and and Tinkerbell who helped with our prize draws. Bingo, Story Corner, face painting, and making bookmarks kept everyone busy. We were so pleased to have our parents support and value literacy in such a big way.
Thank you to our Home and School and to our many staff members who organized and participated in the day. You made a very special day possible!
