Register Now for Bricks 4 Kidz After-School Classes

Bricks 4 Kidz is pleased to announce we will be offering after-school classes at West Royalty Elementary School. Classes follow the Bricks 4 Kidz® motto:

We Learn, We Build, We Play with… LEGO® Bricks.

When: Tuesdays from September 20 to October 25

Time: 2:35-3:35pm

Who: Students in Grades 1-6; Minimum of 10; Maximum of 20 students

Cost: $75/student (tax included) for the six week session

This is a hands on after school enrichment class where students design and build educational models including motorized machines. Each session has a theme with 2 levels of builds for grades 1-3 and advanced builds for grades 4-6.  Problem solving & critical thinking skills are developed while creativity and self-confidence are encouraged. Math & science are applied to real world situations while architecture and engineering concepts are explored. Our fun-filled model plans reinforce S.T.E.M. based principles using LEGO® Bricks.  Kids are motivated and retain more of what they learn when lessons are related to something they enjoy, like LEGO® Bricks!

At the end of the six week session, kids will get to take home their own custom-built mini-figure they created from our mini-figure factory.

We will also be looking for a parent volunteer to assist with the classes. In exchange, the parent volunteer will have the registration fee waived for their child. Parent volunteers must have a completed criminal background check and be permitted to work in the schools.

School Starts Tuesday, September 6th

We are excited to welcome all returning and new students to school on Tuesday, September 6th!  Just a friendly reminder to all about a few things concerning school start-up:

  • Returning students will start off in their homeroom from last year. Students will then be moved to their new classroom for this year. New students in Gr. 1-6 will meet in the multipurpose room. Staff will be there to bring you to your new classroom.

  • Playground supervision begins at 8:00 a.m. Students are supervised on the playground from 8:00-8:15 a.m. If you are dropping off your child, please ensure they are at school no later than 8:20 a.m.

  • Kindergarten students are to be brought to school on September 6th for 9 a.m. Kindergarten students should NOT travel on the school bus the first morning. Kindergarten parents will be receiving an e-mail early next week letting you know what classroom your child will be in. Kindergarten children who travel on a school bus will be able to travel to their after school destinations on September 6th. Kindergarten parents are asked to please double check with your child’s teachers and make sure they know what bus your child is traveling home on or if you are picking up your child. For parents/caregivers who are picking their children up after school, please meet them outside their wing or next to the bus parking lot.  School dismisses at 2:35.

  • Your child will come home with several printed pieces of information on the first day of school.  For forms that need to be returned, we thank you in advance for filling them out promptly and returning them with your child no later than September 9th.

  • Our food program will start the week of September 12th.

  • Thank-you for remembering that we are a peanut-and nut-free facility as we have students and staff who have life-threatening allergies to items that contain these substances.
