Education Transition

As a result of the recent announcement of a single English School Board, an Education Transition Committee, which includes representatives from the Department, the Eastern School District and the Western School Board, has been established to oversee the transition of this new entity.
Implementing these changes will require thoughtful planning and coordination in a short time frame in order to ensure a new structure is in place by September 2012.
Teachers, administrators and staff have always been an integral part of our school system and moving forward, we need to continue to work together with a common goal to improve student achievement.
We understand communication is important throughout the transition process and we are committed to providing regular updates to staff of the Department, School Boards and Educators throughout this process. In April, the committee met for the first time to discuss roles and responsibilities of the committee and to draft initial action plans.
