Child Care/Early Childhood Program Licensing
The PEI Child Care Facilities Board is responsible for licensing and license renewal of child care/early childhood programs according to the Child Care Facilities Act [PDF].
Differences in types of service and programs offered have resulted in the need for the PEI Child Care Facilities Board to distinguish specific types of facilities, with slight variations in the requirements for each. The decision as to whether a facility is to be licensed as a Type I or Type II facility is the responsibility of the PEI Child Care Facilities Board.
Type I License: Early Childhood Centre
Type II License: Day Care Home, School Age Child Care Centre
