Hunting Information

Hunting is a popular recreational activity in PEI. While the Island is famous for abundant migratory Canada geese, quality opportunities also exist for other waterfowl such as black ducks, teal and a variety of sea ducks, as well as upland hunting for ruffed grouse and snowshoe hare.

Hunting and License Information
General information on resident and nonresident hunting licenses can be found at the Hunting License web site. For more detailed information, each year the Forests, Fish and Wildlife Division provides a updated copy of provincial and federal regulations and requirements for hunting and trapping in the annual Hunting and Trapping Summary.
People interested in becoming a licensed hunting guide should refer to the infomration in the Hunting Guide Regulations and Requirements web site.
Starting in 2008, you can also purchase a fishing or hunting license on-line at E Hunting & Fishing Licences
Hunter and Fireamrs Safety Education
The Division offers training for new hunters and youth as well as firearms safety training. To learn more about licencing and education requirements and firearms registration, please refer to the Hunting and Firearms on PEI FAQ.
In 2010, Delta Waterfowl is offering a Mentored Hunting Workshop for Island women who are interested in learning more about how to use firearms in a safe and effective manner.
Dog Training
A Dog Training Permit is required to train a dog to track and retrieve game. You can access a copy of the Hound Training Application Form at this location.
