Surface Water Quality
Water found in lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, estuaries, and other natural watercourses is known as surface water. Detailed information about the quality of surface water in Prince Edward Island can be found by searching the Surface Water Quality Database or Reference Map.
Average surface water quality data include both historical and current monitoring data and can be searched by:
- watershed;
- station name;
- keyword; or
- community.
Information on the following parameters are provided: alkalinity, cadmium, calcium, chloride, chromium, iron, magnesium, manganese, nickel, nitrate, pH, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, sulfate and total suspended solids.
Maps of sampling locations, downloadable raw data and graphs are also provided.

Other Surface Water Monitoring
Several surface water monitoring programs are being carried out by the Government of PEI to measure and track water quality. These include:
