Building Extension Permit

Depending on the area in which you wish to build, building permits are issued by either the municipality or the Province for new structures and renovations.

If you wish to build in a municipality with an official plan and bylaw, contact the municipality to obtain a building permit. For more information, please refer to the Municipal Planning page.

If you wish to build in an area outside of a municipality, contact a Safety Standards Officer in Inspection Services, Department of Environment, Labour and Justice.

Application forms are available at all Access PEI sites or from the forms section listed below on this page. Your application must be accompanied by a site plan and building plan of the proposed project.
