Pesticide Use and Regulation

Pesticide use continues to be of concern to Island residents, visitors, and government. Government is continually working to protect both human health and the environment. Changes were made to legislation in recent years that have strengthened requirements for commercial pesticide applicators and vendors, increased fines, and banned the sale and use of many lawn-care pesticides. Farmers, homeowners, lawn-care professionals, golf course managers, and product vendors now operate under one of Canada’s most comprehensive pieces of pesticide legislation.

If you have a question related to the sale or use of a pesticide, please contact the Pesticide Regulatory Program at (902) 368-5599.

If you have a complaint or concern regarding the use of a pesticide, please contact the Pesticide Regulatory Line at 1 800 454-3231.
