Recycling Facility License

The Materials Recycling Regulations outline the licensing requirements for the construction and operation of facilities that handle and recycle various types of waste in Prince Edward Island.  This waste material can include:

  • scrap metals,
  • wood,
  • cardboard,
  • paper,
  • plastics,
  • tires, or
  • other designated material such as used oil or lead acid batteries.

To construct or operate a recycling facility, a person must receive approval from the Department of Environment, Labour and Justice.  The Materials Recycling Regulations, available online below, specify what requirements an individual or business must meet to construct and/or operate a site.
