Please circle Sunday, July 21 on your calendar for the upcoming PEI Angus Pasture Tour. The tour is open to all beef farmers. The cost to participate (includes lunch and bus transportation) is $15/adults and $10/children. A bus will take participants to three farms:

• Island Meadow Farms is owned by Irwin & Barb Jewell and Randy Jewell. The Jewell’s have over a 100 brood cow/calf herd consisting mostly of commercial stock with Angus influence. In addition to viewing the cattle, there is an opportunity to view a recently built tarp barn, and a piece of specialized feeding equipment – a self-feeding corn silage bucket.
• Wheatley River Angus Farm is owned by Ronnie & Lynn and Glen & Jean Ford and Family. The Fords have an Angus herd of approximately 30 females. Ronnie will share with the group comments on their breeding program and his observations on a pasture trial he has on the farm this summer.
• Hillcrest Farm is owned by Dr. Bill & Mary Best and Family. The farm has 25 purebred Angus cows. The farm uses synchronization AI for breeding some of the herd. Bill will be sharing his comments on the farm’s breeding program and his thoughts on the advantages/disadvantages of synchronization usage.

Dr. Les Halliday will be participating in the tour.
