Island Community Fund
The Island Community Fund is an investment of $27.5 million for Prince Edward Island communities with sustainable infrastructure needs. The fund was established in 2008 as a six-year funding initiative to address the infrastructure gaps currently found under the parameters of traditional federal/provincial programs.
Priority will be given to capital projects which improve rural capacity, support regional and provincial priorities as outlined in the Rural Action Plan. Population retention and economic growth in rural communities is paramount to achieving the goals and vision of the Rural Action Plan and the One Island Community, One Island Future mandate.
The fund includes two components: a small project component and a strategic project component available to projects identified as being of strategic interest to the Province. The program is administered by the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development, through the Rural Development Division.
