Convention on the Rights of the Child - National Child Day Calendar Contest

November 20th will mark the 21st anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The Office of the Child and Youth Commissioner is holding a calendar contest for children and youth across Prince Edward Island to celebrate this important milestone.

Twelve drawings will be selected to be part of a National Child Day calendar. A copy of this calendar will be presented to each of the twelve winners.  The deadline is November 5.  So get busy - and good luck!

Calendar Contest Guidelines

Contest Period: The contest begins Monday, September 13, 2010. All submissions must be received by no later than Friday, November 5, 2010.

Contest Theme and Requirements: The theme of the contest is Convention on the Rights of the Child, and all submissions must have this theme. Winning submissions will be featured in the 2011 calendar.

  • Drawings should be 8x10 inches.Artwork in the horizontal or landscape position format.
  • Submit the original artwork. 
  • Drawings on white or light-colored paper.
  • Do not fold or crease artwork.
  • On the back of each entry, in the lower right hand corner, include: students first and last name, age, grade, school, names of parents or guardians, home address and phone number.

Prizes:
Twelve (12) drawings will be selected from the entries as the winning submissions. Entrants whose submissions are selected will receive a framed picture of their winning entry and five (5) copies of the calendar.
