Forest Policy

You can obtain a copy of Prince Edward Island's 2006 Forest Policy in PDF format. NOTE: The Forest Policy text and Forest Policy cover are stored as two separate files.

You can also read about the process used to create the Island's 2006 Forest Policy. In 2004-05, an extensive series of public consultations were hosted by the Public Forest Council. The province asked Council to seek input and guidance from land owners, industry, conservation groups and the public into how government should support the management and use of public and private land forests. Based on the input they received, Council recommended that government create a new policy which more accurately reflected society's wishes for the Island 280,000 hectares of public and private forest lands. You can read what people said by visiting The Forest Policy Development Process.
