Why was the data set created?

To provide access to PEI's Survey Reference System by providing permanent reference points with coordinate values, elevations, status, and related information. This system also provides access to the Canadian Spatial Reference System.

How was the data set created?

  1. From what previous works were the data drawn?

    (source 1 of 1)
    Land Registration and Information Service.

    Other_Citation_Details:
Geodetic surveys completed over a 30 year period on over 4000 monuments and other permanent reference points, reduced and adjusted at one time by the Land Registration and Information Service, now coordinated by the office of the Chief Surveyor of Prince Edward Island.

  2. How were the data generated, processed, and modified?

    (process 1 of 1)
    Dataset copied.

Data sources used in this process:

  3. What similar or related data should the user be aware of?

How reliable are the data; what problems remain in the data set?

  1. How well have the observations been checked?

  2. How accurate are the geographic locations?

Relative positional accuracy 5 to 7 centimetres. Absolute positional accuracy 50 ppm.
