Resources:
Properly managed nutrients can reduce negative impacts on water and air quality.  The primary goal of nutrient management planning is to optimize a nutrients advantage and minimize their disadvantages. A Nutrient Management Plan is a responsible approach to maintaining and protecting Prince Edward Island’s drinking water quality.

Eligibility Criteria:
The Project Advisor must be consulted by a Qualified Nutrient Management Planner* prior to project initiation to review and discuss details of what is required in a completed Nutrient Management Plan.


FUNDING ASSISTANCE:
Program Funding Level Maximum Funding
5.1 - Nutrient Management Planning 50% $3,000

Responsibilities of Applicant:
  • The applicant agrees to implement the Nutrient Management Plan developed through this BMP

5.1 NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT PLANNING
Eligible Expenses:

  • consultant fees
  • resource materials (support tools such as specialized nutrient management computer software and aerial photography).
Ineligible Expenses:
  • sampling
  • establishment of grid sampling
  • soil/organic amendment analysis
  • nutrient applications

* Qualified Nutrient Management Planner is an individual who is eligible to be a member of the PEI Institute of Agrologists, has successfully completed the Nutrient Management Training course through the Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture (Nova Scotia Agricultural College) and maintains continuing education credit by attending Prince Edward Island Nutrient Management training sessions.
