The Vital Statistics Program is a provincial registry program that is responsible for the collection, registration, maintenance and dissemination of vital event information, which includes births, deaths, stillbirths, adoptions, marriages, divorces, and change of name. This information fulfills important registration and certification purposes and provides support to a national and provincial statistical system, both for population information and health information.
