Immunization

The goal of the Immunization Program is to provide safe and effective vaccines that protect against vaccine preventable diseases. An immunization program is recommended and offered at no cost to all residents under 18 years of age or until leaving school. 


The PEI childhood immunization schedule, effective August 2013: 
2 months DTaP-HB-IPV-Hib & Pneumococcal Conjugate & Rotavirus vaccine
4 months DTaP-HB-IPV-Hib & Pneumococcal Conjugate & Rotavirus vaccine
6 months DTaP-HB-IPV-Hib (High Risk also receive Pneumococcal Conjugate)
12 months MMRV & Meningococcal C Conjugate & Pneumococcal Conjugate
18 months DaPTP-Act Hib & MMRV
4-5 years dTap-IPV & Varicella (if the chld has not had two doses)
Grade 6 HPV (for girls and boys)
Grade 9 dTap & Meningococcal A, C, Y and W-135 Conjugate
   
DTaP-HB-IPV-Hib =        Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Hepatitis B, Polio, Haemophilus influenza type B
MMRV = Measles, Mumps, Rubella (German measles), Varicella (Chickenpox)
HPV = Human Papillomavirus
dTap = Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis
IPV = Inactive Polio Vaccine

Who do I call for my child’s immunization needles or records?
The Public Health Nursing program provides the childhood immunization program. Call the office closest to where you live and they will make appointments and / or provide records and immunization.
