Communicable Disease Program Goals:

to prevent the occurrence of illnesses that can be transmitted from person to person (example includes immunization programs, infection control standards, environmental health inspections)
to reduce or control spreading of illnesses once they occur (follow up of sexually transmitted diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, other notifiable diseases)

Who can I call to get information about communicable disease control?
Public Health Nursing offices have a role in educating about communicable diseases and following up on reportable illnesses.

Environmental Health conducts inspections, provides education and follows up on reports of foodborne outbreaks.
