Air Quality Health Index
The Prince Edward Island Department of Environment, Labour and Justice operates three monitoring stations in the province that provide real-time air quality data to Environment Canada for the calculation of the current Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) and forecast. In conjunction with the PEI Department of Health and Wellness, Health Canada, and the Prince Edward Island Lung Association, the AQHI is provided to the public identifying potential risk to health. Health messages are provided for at-risk and general populations with suggestions regarding outdoor activities based on the index reading.
AQHIs are available for:
Charlottetown
Summerside (Wellington)
St Peter's Bay (Southhampton)
For general information on the Air Quality Health Index and on results from air monitoring stations across Canada, see Environment Canada's AQHI page
