Small Grants Program

The Small Grants Program is intended to encourage and support organizations to look at new initiatives that will encourage greater sport participation and leadership in under-represented and marginalized populations. The program will encourage strategic partnerships and will provide support for the development and operation of projects designed to increase or enhance participation in sport for underrepresented and/or marginalized individuals and groups on PEI.
 
Underrepresented groups on PEI include individuals with a physical and/or intellectual disabilities, disadvantaged youth, vulnerable populations, minority groups (ie Aboriginals, Acadians, Newcomers), women and girls in coaching and leadership positions and underrepresented males or females within a sport (girls in baseball or boys in figure skating, etc). This list should not be considered inclusive.
 
Who is eligible for the program?
The following groups are eligible to apply for the program:
1.       Member Clubs and Associations – To provide assistance to sport clubs and associations (must be a member of their respective PSO) for new or enhanced projects that encourage and support increased participation, athlete development, coach development, volunteer development and official development for local grass root activities in sport for underrepresented or marginalized populations on PEI.
2.       Not for Profit – To provide assistance to not for profit organizations, municipalities, provincial sport organizations, etc. for new or enhanced activities or programs that support a vision of getting underrepresented Islanders active in sport, recreation or physical activity.
3.       Girls and Women – To provide assistance for girls and women in leadership positions in sport (coaching and officiating).
 
How much funding can I receive?
Normally funding is a maximum of $1,000 however projects that are provincial in scope, innovative and demonstrate a need could be eligible for up to $2,000.
 
What can I use the funding for?
Funding can be used for including program design and delivery of instructor clinic fees, equipment, facility rental and promotions and communications. It may also be used for coach or instructor development opportunities.

Is there a deadline to apply?
The final intake period for the 2015-16 fiscal year is November 30, 2015.
 
Is there a fee to apply?
There is no fee to apply.
