New family physician for Montague

Health and Wellness

Residents of Southern Kings will have better access to health care beginning this summer with the recruitment of family physician Dr. Carl Bradley, says Minister of Health and Wellness Doug Currie.

Dr. Bradley will begin practice as a family physician in the Montague Health Center in Montague this July and will serve the Southern Kings region.

“The Province of Prince Edward Island is committed to improving access to primary care within Island communities. Nurse practitioners are now working across the province and last year we recruited 19 physicians, including five family physicians,” said the minister. “We are also working with the Medical Society to reduce the number of Islanders on the patient registry.”

The addition of Dr. Bradley brings the complement of family physicians in Montague to a full complement of eight physicians.

Dr. Bradley completed his medical school at the University of Toronto and is currently completing his residency training at Memorial University in Newfoundland.

“I am very excited to come home to PEI after a long absence training in Toronto and in Newfoundland. I hope to provide high-quality, comprehensive care to the people of Kings County, and I look forward to learning from the great physicians and all the staff at Kings Country Memorial Hospital,” said Dr. Bradley.

Montague and surrounding area residents who do not have a family physician or nurse practitioner should call the Patient Registry at 1-855-563-2101.
