Period of PURPLE Crying Program
The Period of PURPLE Crying® program was launched in Prince Edward Island on November 26, 2012
The Period of PURPLE Crying is a prevention program to help educate parents and caregivers about normal infant crying and the dangers of shaking an infant.Each family who has a new baby now receives a Period of PURPLE Crying DVD and booklet and has a chance to talk with nurses in hospital about the normal patterns of infant crying. Families can also talk about the program and ask questions during their at-home visits with Public Health Nursing. The DVD and the nurses provides parents and caregivers tips on coping with normal infant crying.

About the Period of PURPLE Crying® programCalling on PEI Knitters to Get Involved
Newborns at the Prince County Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital now sport purple hats to create awareness about the Period of PURPLE Crying®. You can support the Period of PURPLE Crying® program in PEI by knitting or crocheting purple baby caps. Hats can be dropped off at the QEH Volunteer Services Office or PCH, Maternal Child Care Unit with a note attached "for Period of PURPLE Crying® Babies". Find patternsPeriod of PURPLE Crying® Video
