Driving Schools
Highway Safety is responsible for licensing and monitoring of commercial driving schools and instructors. There are eleven driver education schools, two truck/bus driving schools and 41 driving instructors.The driver education school instructors are responsible for testing of drivers for class 5 drivers’ licences. The schools conduct approximately 2800 knowledge and behind-the-wheel tests.
Truck-driver training schools are governed not only under the Highway Traffic Act, but also by a regulatory system under the Private Training Schools Act, administered by the Department of Innovation and Advanced Learning.The Procedures and Qualifications Required to Apply for Driving School Instructor's Licenses, the Procedures to Apply for a Driving School License are available online.
