Driver's License Renewals

All regular driver license renewals must be made in person at Access PEI.

Drivers whose license will expire when they are outside Prince Edward Island can renew their license five months before the license expiry and before they leave the province.

If you are out of the province at the time your license expires and will be returning within six months then you may be sent a one-time license extension valid for up to a maximum of six months. This allows you to drive while you are away or to exchange your license in another jurisdiction.

Requests for a driver license extension can be made at the following:

Telephone: (902) 838-0600

Fax: (902) 838-0610

Email: swat@gov.pe.ca

The two English forms below must be completed by the applicant.

If a license has been expired for more than one, but fewer than three years, then you must visit an Access PEI location to complete a vision test. If your license has been expired for more than three years then you must pass vision, knowledge and road tests.
