Motor Vehicle Registration

Proof of vehicle ownership is required for registration. The vehicle permit, proof of insurance and motor vehicle inspection report are the documents you need. Notice of transfers of ownership must be filed with Highway Safety within 7 days of purchase.

Non-residents must register a vehicle in Prince Edward Island after four months on a reciprocal basis. Plates must be purchased within 10 days if employment is obtained.
