The West Prince Regional Health Authority is the governing body for health and social services in
West Prince.
The Health Authority was formed in 1994 and is responsible for administering all aspects of
Health and Community Services to the people of West Prince, which serves the communities of O'Leary, Tignish, Alberton and surrounding areas.

Child and Family Services
WHAT WE DO
Child and Family Services provides a broad range of services to promote the safety and well-being of the residents of West Prince.
Some of the services they offer include:
Assistance to cover basic needs;
Support for individuals and families who lack the resources to deal with crisis events/situations in their lives; protecting the rights and well-being of children where efforts of the family have been unsuccessful:
Assisting disabled and/or socially disadvantaged persons who are unable to act effectively in their own interests;
Strengthening family and community resources to increase the capacity of individuals and/or families for more independent functioning;

Acute Care
WHAT WE DO
Acute Care Services are provided out of both Western Hospital in Alberton and Community
Hospital in O'Leary. Between them there are a total of 40 inpatient and palliative care beds. They offer a full range of diagnostic testing as well as Emergency out-patient services.
Housing Services operates out of Maplewood Manor in Alberton. Offered are several different
programs to provide adequate housing for families and seniors.
Two facilities, Maplewood Manor and the Margaret Stewart Ellis Wing of Community Hospital feature a total of 73 beds for persons
who can no longer reside in the community. Services provided to residents include:
Community Health Services operates out of Community Hospital in O'Leary and offers a variety
of community based programs and services. These programs include:
Addiction Services are offered out of Western Hospital in Alberton and consist of Community Addiction Counseling, Youth Addiction Counseling and Family Addiction Counseling.
Mental Health Services are available out of St. Martha's Healthy Living Centre, Alberton and offer community mental health services and support to those in need.
