Manager of Apprenticeship to Volunteer at 2011 WorldSkills Competition

Susan LeFort, Manager of Apprenticeship and Training, will be volunteering as an Expert in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) turning at the 2011 WorldSkills competition in London, England, says Allan Campbell, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning.

Apprenticeship Graduates Honoured in Charlottetown

Apprenticeship training holds the promise of well-paid careers for Islanders and economic development for the Island community, says Innovation and Advanced Learning Minister Allan Campbell.

Minister Campbell, who spoke to graduates at the 2010 Apprenticeship Awards evening, said the recently certified tradespeople represent the foundation of a booming Island economy.

Students Awarded Medals for Skills Competition
March 12, 2010

Prince Edward Island high school and post-secondary students who competed in the recent Provincial Skills Canada-PEI competition were awarded medals at a ceremony held this week in Charlottetown. The 250 students showcased their talents in 27 different trades and technologies and were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals by the province’s Education Ministers, Allan Campbell and Doug Currie.

New Apprenticeship Program For Farm Workers
August 13, 2008

The first-ever farm technician apprenticeship program in Canada was announced today by Prince Edward Island Agriculture Minister Neil LeClair and the Honourable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. Under the new program, farm workers will receive a combination of classroom instruction and on-farm experience that will qualify them as farm technicians under the provincial government’s apprenticeship program. The program will be developed and delivered by the Nova Scotia Agriculture College.

A National Celebration of Skilled Trades and Technology Careers
October 29, 2008

On Monday November 3, 2008, events are being held across the country to help introduce young Canadians to successful careers in skilled trades and technology. To showcase the importance of careers in these fields, and to kick off National Technology Week and National Skilled Trades Day, activities planned by each province will be announced in the House of Commons.
