Preparing for Nuclear Medicine Procedures

Bone Scan

The exam duration for this test is 15 minutes initially for explanation of the procedure and injection of radiopharmaceutical.
You will then be instructed by the technologist to return 2 to 4 hours after the injection for your bone scan.

Hida Scan

Do not have anything to eat or drink 4 hours before your scheduled scan.
The procedure will take between 1 to 2 hours.

Meckel's Scan

Do not have anything to eat or drink 4 hours before your scheduled scan.
The procedure will take between 1 to 2 hours.
