In July 2003, the National Research Council (NRC) in collaboration with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the Province of Prince Edward Island and the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) announced the establishment of the NRC Institute for Nutrisciences and Health.
Scientists at the National Research Council Institute for Nutrisciences and Health (NRC-INH) are involved in identifying how bioactive compounds found in nature can be used to improve human and animal health. Research focuses on the role natural compounds play in three key areas: neurological disorders (such as Alzheimer's disease); obesity-related disorders (such as Diabetes); and infection and immunity (such as viral infections).
