Richmond Centre

The mandate of Richmond Centre is to provide a broad range of community-based mental health services to individuals, families, groups, and communities. The mental health teams are established under a multi-disciplinary model with professionals from the disciplines of nursing, psychology, social work and psychiatry providing services at the Centre.

Specific Programs:

  • Psychiatric consultation and treatment services to clients of Community Mental Health
  • Direct physician psychiatric consultations
  • Treatment services and coordination of Provincial Eating Disorder Committee for adult and youth eating disorders
  • Child and adolescent psychiatric consultation services to East Prince
  • Child and adolescent psychiatric telehealth services with the Isaac Walton Killop Children's Hospital
  • Telehealth consultation services with Homewood regarding eating disorder clients admitted to that Ontario facility for treatment
  • Coordination of the Provincial Forensic Program including a contract with the East Coast Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Dartmouth and a telehealth connection with the same facility for court ordered assessments of criminal responsibility, fitness to stand trial and treatment under the Criminal Code Review Board
  • Intake services for Family Ties Program which provides family preservation and suicidal prevention services for teenagers  
  • Specialized treatment services that includes Neuro Linguistic Programming, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and others
  • Mental health participation in 6 Multi Agency Support Teams (MAST) located in schools; Birchwood, East Wiltshire, Queen Charlotte, Stonepark, Elliot River, Francois Buote
  • Weekly mental health services to inmates of Sleepy Hollow
  • Psychological assessments on adults and children of Richmond Centre clients 
  • Group treatment programs for adults with depression and anxiety (Panic and Anxiety, Changeways)
  • Participation in the Provincial Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program for adults with Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Crisis Response program that is geared to offer same day service to clients presenting at the ER in crisis
  • Bilingual therapeutic services
  • Critical Incident Stress Management services for regional staff involved in traumatic incidents at work
