Rental Agreements

If you have a concern about a residential rental agreement, contact the Director of Residential Rental Property (formerly known as the Rentalsman). This office is located within the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC).

What does the Director of Residential Rental Property (rentalsman) do?

The Director, or an officer delegated by the Director, is primarily responsible for dealing with disputes between landlords (lessors) and tenants (lessees). Matters before the director include issues relating to a rental agreement, such as:

• good behaviour
• condition of the premises
• subletting
• entry of property
• quiet enjoyment
• delivery of possession
• mobile homes
• rent owing
