Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association (C.M.H.A.)
Squirt Division
Charlottetown Minor Hockey Programs are offered from ages of five to 19 years. The Initiation Program is for 5, 6 and 7 year olds. The five and six year olds make up the Squirt Division, who play twice a week on divided ice surfaces.
Tykes Division
The Tykes Division consists of 7 year olds who play on a the full ice surface. The division practices for 30 minutes and the plays for 30 minutes per hour session.
Novice Division
The Novice Division is for 8 and 9 years of age. This is the first year players are allowed to try out for Representative Teams. There is a Novice "AA" and "A" level. The remainder of the children compete at the b level. They practice for 30 minutes then play for 30 minutes per hour session. They also on occasion play full games against their own teams and other associations teams.
Atom Division
The Atom Division is for 10 and 11 years of age. This Division consists of Atom "AA" and "A" and "B". The Atom division continues the 30 minute practice game format when playing teams in their association. This is the first year "B" level teams compete in interlocking schedules with other associations. The Divisions consist of West, Central and East. The finals culminate with a year end play down between the top two teams of each division vying for the provincial crown.
Pee Wee
The Pee Wee Division is for 12 and 13 years of age. This Division consists of Pee Wee "AA" and "A" and "B". The Pee Wee "B" division is mainly an all game format with the occasional practice. The "B" level teams compete in interlocking schedules with other associations. The Divisions consist of West, Central and East. The finals culminate with a year end play down between the top two teams of each division vying for the provincial crown. For more information please contact the Pee Wee coordinator. NOTE: All Peewee players, including B players are required to complete a checking clinic.
Bantam Division
The Bantam Division is for 14 and 15 years of age. This Division consists of Bantam "AAA" and "A" and "B". The Bantam "B" division is mainly an all game format with the occasional practice. The "B" level teams compete in interlocking schedules with other associations. The Divisions consist of West, Central and East. The finals culminate with a year end play down between the top two teams of each division vying for the provincial crown.
Midget Division
The Midget Division is for 15 and 16 years of age. This Division consists of Midget "AAA" and "A" and "B". The Midget "B" division is mainly an all game format with the occasional practice. The "B" level teams compete in interlocking schedules with other associations. The Divisions consist of West, Central and East. The finals culminate with a year end play down between the top two teams of each division vying for the provincial crown.
Girls Hockey
Girls Hockey Prince Edward Island has the highest per capita ratio of girls playing girls hockey in Canada. Currently there are about 1000 girls registered in girls hockey across the province. The CMHA offers a Pee Wee "A" and "AA" and Midget "AA" Girls Hockey. The girls hockey programs are run as Representative Programs with one game hour and practice hour per week. The girls play other teams from across the province.
