McGill Community Mental Health Centre

The Centre offers a range of therapeutic services to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who require a broad and intensive level of outpatient/ambulatory mental health services. Services include psychoeducational groups, outreach, one-on-one therapy office visits, medication distribution and psychiatric consultation.

Services Provided:

  • Office-Based Clinical Assessments / Home Assessments
  • Individual Therapy
  • Discharge Program - For individuals recently discharged from inpatient settings
  • Liaison with other Mental Health Services like Unit 9 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hillsborough Hospital
  • ER Crisis Response
  • Psychiatric Consultation
  • Medication Management - Neuroleptic Injection Program, Dispensing oral medication and filling dosettes, Delivering and observing medication, Medication samples to working poor, Pharmacological Education
  • OUTREACH
  • Assertive Outreach - frequent individualized interventions usually provided in the client's own space, Supportive, monitoring, role modeling, skills training, teaching, nontraditional, "street smarts" and "can do" attitude
  • Step-down Outreach - individualized interventions usually provided in the client's own space.
  • Maintenance Outreach - checking in at least monthly, with a client's home and addressing any concerns that could interfere with progress gained.
  • Placements - Residential Services
  • Care Provider monitoring and support
  • Dual Disorder(Developmentally Delayed and Mental Illness) Coordination
  • Psycho educational Groups
  • Changeways- CBT Group for Depression and Anxiety
  • CMHA Programs - Journey of Hope & White Cross, Psychogeriatics (SMHRT) Seniors Mental Health Resource Team, Liaison Unit 5, Hillsborough Hospital (Seniors), Liaison Home Care & Support (Seniors), Recreation / Gym Program, Forensics Nurse, Crisis Intervention
  • Provincial DBT - Intake and case assignment, One to One therapy, Skills training group
  • Research projects - National Outcomes Study In Schizophrenia (University of B.C.), The Maritime Study of Genetics Of Bipolar Disorder (Dalhousie University)
