Gasoline Prices

Gas prices in Prince Edward Island are regulated by an independent organization, Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC), which sets the price of all petroleum products including gasoline and home heating oil on the 1st and 15th of every month. In practical terms this results in gasoline often being a few cents higher or lower per litre in PEI than in other areas of the country because of the infrequent change and how IRAC calculates the price.

Gas prices in Canada may appear higher than in the USA - however, the Canadian (Imperial) gallon is 1/5 larger than the U.S. gallon. The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission keeps a table of current petroleum prices on its web site.
